Brian has spent his entire career in the moving and storage business. He began working weekends with his father in their New London, CT moving business. First, as a helper on the moving trucks, and as a forklift operator in the warehouse. Brian became a lead mover at the age of 18, when he got his tractor-trailer license. When he turned 21, and could legally drive trucks interstate, he spent summers and vacations on the road for North American Van Lines.
Brian received his Bachelor’s Degree in finance from the University of Connecticut in 1976. He then spent several years at Metropolitan Moving & Storage in Cambridge, MA, first as an operations clerk, then working his way up to general manager in 1981.
In 1986, Brian greatly expanded Sterling by creating a new organization in Billerica, MA to focus on meeting the growing logistical needs of the high-tech industry in eastern MA. Since then, Sterling has grown in size and scope, providing a full set of local and long-distance transportation services, warehousing, and distribution services to a wide variety of industries. Our warehouse space has grown from 40,000 square feet to nearly 300,000 square feet.
Brian has grown Sterling’s reach, and now owns and operates moving and storage companies in MA, RI, and CT offering a total suite of transportation and warehouse services. The company operates 70 trucks locally and nationally.
Brian served two terms as chairman of the North American Movers Association, which is comprised of the North American Van Line agents in the US and Canada. He was also one of the 12 major principals that acquired the High Value Products Division from Sirva, the parent organization of NAVL.
